Images of Brecon Golf ClubWelcome to Brecon Golf Club

Situated 0.5 mile west of the Brecon Town Centre, this unique club boasts over a century of tradition and is considered by many as one of Wales’ finest nine hole golf courses. The club was Founded in 1902, originally designed by James Braid and was only the tenth club to join the Welsh Golfing Union.

This is an attractive parkland course with excellent drainage and a great reputation for being in good condition all year round, particularly the greens. Its flat terrain makes for an easy and enjoyable walk, with breathtaking views of the Brecon Beacons providing an extremely pleasant and popular place to play golf. After a game you can enjoy the comforts and a warm welcome in the well-equipped clubhouse with a snack, a meal or just a drink.

Although, a nine hole course, every hole demands the greatest respect for the accomplished golfer. Many of the holes are shaped by superb mature trees and hedgerow, which when in full leaf provide an additional challenge. Eighteen holes of golf at Brecon measures 6,068 yards played from the white tee boxes with a par and standard scratch of 70, so it is certainly not your quintessential short nine-holes.

Brecon itself is a traditional Mid Wales market town located at the confluence of the Usk and Honddu rivers. The town has a wealth of history as witnessed by it’s Cathedral, originally a fortification built by the half brother of William the Conqueror after he captured the town in 1094. The streets and passageways of Brecon are lined with Georgian and Jacobean shop fronts, and as an added attraction for a holiday break there is the historic Monmouth and Brecon Canal linking Brecon with Newport. A magnificent stone aqueduct carries the canal across the River Usk just outside the town.

Come and play golf at Brecon, enjoy it and then come back and play again.
