Course Layout

Front 9
_______
HOLE 1
______

A difficult opening hole. From the tee the fairway is split into two by a ditch that runs the length of the fairway. The player must choose which side to play, the left hand side is the safer way into the green, choose the right and you must take on the pond that guards the green.

______
HOLE 2
______

A short hole with an elevated green. There is out of bounds to the left from tee to green with a bunker guarding the left hand side of green as well. A tee shot that must be straight or to the right to avoid all the trouble. Do not be short as a ditch will snaffle up your ball.

_______
HOLE 3
_______

This hole is a Par 4 352 yard slight dog leg left. Try to cut the corner going for the green and you could well end up in the water guarding the green on the left hand side Stroke Index16 for the men 15 for the ladies. Play it sensibly and you will get your par
_______
HOLE 4
_______

This hole is a must for boat enthusiasts as the Shropshire Union Canal runs along side this hole, in fact the hole name 'Winding' is an old boating term meaning 'turning place' (look for the inlet half way along the fairway). From the tee your shot must be to the right side of the fairway as three large Oak trees guard the approach to the green. There are two bunkers on the left of the green catch the overzealous shot.

_______
HOLE 5
_______

First of the longer holes on the course with the canal still to the left of the hole. The tee shot must be true as you also have trouble to the right from the tee with a bank of thick grass that runs all the way down the first part of this hole. Clear this trouble and just when you think you are safe you must clear a ditch that runs across the fairway at approximately 175 yds from the green. From here you will see that the green is guarded by two greenside bunkers, a tough hole

_______
HOLE 6
_______

The second short hole on the front nine. This green is surrounded by trouble, to the front there are two large bunkers, whilst to the left side are three stepped ponds, and to the back a deep ditch. A short hole but big trouble.

________
HOLE 7
________

Longest hole on the course and one of the toughest at it full length well over 600 yards. Water at 250 yards the name of this whole is Lay Up. Three solid shots here required to get anyhwre near the hole to get your par.

_________
HOLE 8
_________

Sharp dogleg right. A shot up to the corner will leave 150 yards to the flag, a good sized freen with bunkers protecting the left handside.

_________
HOLE 9
_________

Fountain. Lots of water on this long par 4/5. water features at 250 yards from the white boxes and then again. Play sensible to come off with a five. Gamble here and you could well be rewarded with a 4.

Back 9
________
HOLE 10
________

A tough start to the back nine, with stroke index 2. Water left, right and centre, a straight tee shot a must. Your second shot over the centre lake should leave you with a third to a green that is surrounded by no less than six bunkers. A par on this hole and you have played it very well!!

________
HOLE 11
________

The second dogleg on the course. There is O.O.B. from the tee to just short of the green. You need a long straight shot along a fairway rising to a crest some 250yds from the tee. From here you will have a better idea where to place your second, although the big hitters can go for the green. You will have to go over, or round the 3 Oak trees that line the left side of the fairway to get to a green that is guarded by a bunker on the right

________
HOLE 12
________

From the tee you must avoid the large lake, a carry of about 180 yards from the white tee, and strategically placed bunkers, one in front of the other. Clear these and there is another pond to negotiate in front of a green that slopes down back to the pond.

________
HOLE 13
________

Nice par 3 played over the water no trouble at the back with the green 16 yards in depth a good solid mid iron will secure your par. One of the easiest holes on the course. Only 101 yards off of the Ladies tee.

________
HOLE 14
________

The Valley says it all really. Bunkers to the left Bunkers to the right and two ponds down the left hand side before you play into a green that is protected by five bunkers at the approach, one of the toughest holes on the course. Par 5 488 yards. Birdies for the brave here.

_______
HOLE 15
_______

Once again the Shropshire Canal runs to the left of this hole. To the right is a steep bank with long grass to avoid, and there are 2 fairway bunkers. Another shallow green, guarded by a large bunker in front once again requires a well struck approach. This hole looks easier than it plays - it is the 4th most difficult hole on the course.

________
HOLE 16
________

Park Gate

Good little par 4 Play sensibly and lay up left with an iron leaving an easy approach over the only bunker protecting the green front right. Go over the water and the bunker may come into play for the longer hitters. 295 from the whites stroke index 9 for the Men

________
HOLE 17
________

The island green is our signature hole. It is a tough shot from whichever tee you play. This could be 125yds to 150 yds in length. Miss it and its wet feet, hit it and you may think it's over. Don't, this is a very tricky green for putting!

________
HOLE 18
________

At last the adventure is almost over, from the tee the hole slightly doglegs to the left where there is O.O.B. There are 2 fairway bunkers left and right at 180 and 200yds from the tee. A new pond has been added short right of the green that can be seen from the crest of the hill. Clear this and you still have a green guarded by two bunkers left and right and two bunkers at the back of the green, so no over hitting your second
