A most enjoyable luncheon was held at Fynn Valley Golf Club on Monday, 21st March to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Association. This was preceded by a 9 hole foursomes competition in which 88 players took part (that must be a record!!). The lunch was attended by 142 members and guests. The invited guests were Judy Hamshere - Suffolk County President, Sheila Jarvis – Suffolk County Captain, Kay Anderson – Suffolk Junior Organiser (Girls) and Mandy Boutell representing Fynn Valley.
Mandy welcomed all those present to Fynn Valley Golf Club and Sheila Burgess (Capt. SVLGA) then welcomed the guests and gave some background history of the Association. She said that the Committee had given a lot of thought to the choice of an appropriate memento to mark the occasion and hoped that everybody liked the specially designed china coaster which was to be distributed to all members, not just those present.
Our Treasurer, Pat West, had arranged the provision of a most beautiful cake, decorated with our logo, and Ann Eastham, our President, had very kindly donated this for this special occasion which she then cut.
After the delicious lunch had been served Judy Hamshere proposed a toast to the Association and Ann Eastham responded and gave some further amusing background information on the Association.
Sheila Burgess then presented a cheque for £500 from the Association to Kay Anderson to assist with the running costs of the Juniors. Kay expressed her gratitude to the members and said that the money would be used for the Girls’ 2nd team kit and also for colour badges for them.
Finally Ann Eastham presented pot plants to the winners of the golf.
